Turning Fragmented Data Into A Strategic Asset

A global asset manager had invested in Snowflake as its strategic data platform but was unable to fully realise its value. Fragmented data architecture, a lack of integration with strategic data masters including Security and Portfolio, and a reliance on legacy infrastructure were creating significant operational drag. Reporting timelines were slow, manual intervention was prevalent, and confidence in data outputs for client reporting, risk calculations and quant models was inconsistent.

Novatus began with a comprehensive strategic data review to identify the most complete and granular datasets for business, client and risk reporting, alongside the design of a standardised enterprise-wide data model. We assessed Snowflake's deployment, identified sub-optimal usage and delivered a target-state architecture covering ingestion, transformation, governance and quality. Modern tooling was evaluated and implemented across the stack, including Fivetran, dbt and Dagster for ingestion and orchestration, and Collibra for governance. We then oversaw full technical execution, integrating Snowflake with risk engines including Aladdin, UBS and FactSet, and developing data products for the Snowflake Marketplace.
